It’s officially Fall… there’s a slight chill in the air, pumpkin spiced lattes are back at Starbucks, and your Instagram feed is beginning to be overtaken by photos of cute boots, cozy sweaters and apple picking adventures. Your mind (and heart) may still be longing for blue water, sand between your toes and summer sunshine, but sooner or later, you’re going to have to give in to the cozy. To help you look (and feel) a little more prepared for the season’s transition, we’ve put together this Fall Color & Trend Report…
In order to make any trend or statement work well, you need to start with a clean, blank canvas… cue beautiful, glowing skin! When your skin glows and you glow from looking and feeling your best, the colors, styles, clothing or makeup you wear only adds to your radiance, it doesn’t steal the show or detract from your beauty. That’s why skincare is the first place you need to start. With the cold, dry weather of Fall in mind, here are a few skincare habits we recommend this season:
- Keep it Clean — trying out new makeup trends or even just being exposed to the elements throughout the day, it’s important to keep your skin clean by cleansing both morning and night. Apriori Beauty’s Crème Cleanse or ProDermalin Gentle Cleanser (for sensitive skin) provide a safe, natural cleansing that doesn’t strip your skin of important natural oils or leave it feeling dry.
- Stay Hydrated & Moisturized — we’ve explained the differences between Hydrating vs. Moisturizing before, but in dry weather, this is especially important to be mindful of! Be sure to hydrate skin to treat dryness, then moisturize to maintain that hydration. We recommend using our treatment Hydrating Mask a few times a week paired with a Moisturizer suited for the time of day you’re using it!
- Exfoliate Dead Skin — sometimes, no matter how hard you fight it, dry skin gets the best of us. That’s okay! Especially when you have an exfoliant on your side to ensure that dead skin cells don’t clutter your face and clog your pores, causing more damage and inflammation. Be sure your Fall skincare routine includes a weekly exfoliant. Our Enzyme Activated Micro Scrub & Purifying Clay Masque are great mechanical exfoliants, while our Acid Peel is an amazing chemical exfoliant—all work wonderfully!
Warm tones with a surprise pop of color are the leaders of the color wheel this season. All of these colors help evoke a feeling of warmth, fullness, satisfaction—all comforting feelings that suit everyone well in a transition to a more chilly, cozy season. Here are the universally recognized Pantone colors for Fall…
Following the color trends of the season, this Fall’s runway looks feature warm tones and neutrals alongside a strong pop of color. Pair your favorite jeans and neutral colored sweater with a bold accessory—purse, boots, necklace or jacket. Or, if you’re feeling really forward, go all-out with the color! Try an orange of fuchsia dress with dark stockings and boots. You’ll be sure to grab anyone’s attention!
Finish off your look for Fall with a beautiful Hint of Color! Since many of the colors this season are bold and bright, you can either choose to take your makeup in the same direction, or in the more neutral, natural direction. We’ve come up with two looks that will do just that for you utilizing Apriori Beauty’s Hint of Color collection.
Neutral Fall Look
This neutral look adds a little extra emphasis to already natural, glowing skin and beauty. Meant to highlight all the right areas, this lineup adds a Hint of Color, some glowing highlight, and a beautiful pink lip with high-shine gloss. Here’s how this came together:
Face: An overall application of Pure Perfecting Veil (Light) provides a great base tint of balanced, soft and natural color.
Eyes: Utilizing Apriori Beauty’s Nude Face Palette & Brush Set, the base of the eye was dusted with the Toasty eyeshadow shade. The outer eye corner and crease were accented with the Chestnut eyeshadow shade, and the inner eye corner was highlighted with the Champagne eyeshadow shade. Eyebrows were slightly darkened with the Latte eyeshadow shade.
Cheeks: Still using the Nude Face Palette, the Contour powder was applied to under the jawline, on the sides of the bridge of the nose, and along the hairline. The apples of the cheeks were touched with the Dusty Rose blusher from the palette. The Highlight powder was used to draw attention to focal points such as cheek bones, the bridge and tip of the nose, above the middle of the lip and on the point of the chin. Glow With It, Highlighter Cream was also used on these highlight points to bring a little extra shimmer and shine. To learn more about where to highlight, CLICK HERE.
Lips: This beautiful, soft pink lip was done with our Nude Pink Moisturizing Lipstick with a quick application of One for All Gloss over the top, providing a high-shine that brings a little extra pop to the overall natural look.
Bold Fall Look
Building on the neutral look (above), we decided to feature a look with a little more boldness and pop of color. You can take the neutral look from day to night with these simple additions, or just rock this beautiful look all day long! Here’s how to make it happen:
Start with all steps above, then augment with…
Eyes: Utilizing Apriori Beauty’s Nude Face Palette & Brush Set, the outer corner of the eye was darkened with the Terracotta eyeshadow shade. A little darker color was added to the lid of the eye using the Pewter eyeshadow shade. Finally, a wet mixture (simply wet a thin lining brush before dipping it into the eyeshadow) of the Coco & Truffle eyeshadow shades was used to line the upper and lower lash lines.
Lips: Adding that extra color, and really drawing in those bold fall colors, Berry Kiss Moisturizing Lipstick is your go-to color in this look! You can also choose to add a little extra shimmer and shine with a quick coat of Shimmy Shimmy Moisturizing Lipstick over the top of the Berry Kiss.
Fall is a fun time to switch things up and really play with your look. Be sure to try some of these tips out and let us know what you think! We love to see pictures!
